Division staff coordinates agricultural water registrations/certifications for agricultural, aquacultural and horticultural purposes pursuant to the Water Supply Management Act with the Department of Environmental Protection’s Bureau of Water Allocation. Persons with the ability to divert 100,000 gallons of water or more per day for such purposes must obtain a water usage certification, registration or other special use permit. Division staff also continues to participate in the ongoing Statewide Water Supply Master Planning process to ensure that agriculture’s water needs are addressed. The Plan is comprehensive as it examines all aspects of water supply management (engineering, legal, and institutional) in a context of extensive public participation. The Master Plan provides: recommended projects and programs for the satisfaction of the State's water supply needs; a framework for the future planning, evaluation and implementation of specific projects required to meet those needs.
