Mount Laurel's Kelsey Hockenberger Wins Statewide Honor at Farm Bureau Convention

(TRENTON) – Kelsey Hockenberger, a 15-year-old honor student from Lenape High School in Medford, Burlington County, was recently named the 2006 New Jersey Equestrian of the Year at the New Jersey Farm Bureau’s 2005 Convention.

Kelsey, who represented the New Jersey Horse Council among the 10 competitors from throughout the state, was the Senior Division Champion, Training Level 1 Dressage, at the 2005 New Jersey State 4-H Championship Horse Show, as well as placing First Overall and qualifying as a member of the 2005 National 4-H Horse Round-up Team in the New Jersey State 4-H Equine presentations.

She has participated in State 4-H Championship Horse Shows dating back to 2002, having won various honors in 2003, 2004 and 2005.

A volunteer in many community service activities, Kelsey, a Mount Laurel resident, also has received academic excellence awards at Lenape in English and French, as well as being on the Honor Roll in all semesters. She is a member of the Girls Ensemble Chorus and the Interact community service club.

The First Runner-Up in the Farm Bureau competition was Katie Marie Pratt of Mullica Hill, Gloucester County, representing New Jersey State 4-H, and Second Runner-Up was Kelly Marshall of Jackson, Ocean County, who represented the New Jersey Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association.
