New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services

The Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) is committed to fostering accessible, high quality health and senior services to help all state residents achieve optimal health, dignity and independence. Through its Division of Aging and Community Services it administers programs to help seniors stay healthy and maintain themselves in the community for as long as possible. Through its Division of Senior Benefits and Utilization Management, seniors and people with disabilities get help with prescriptions, utility and hearing aide costs. And, through its Division of Health Facilities Evaluation and Licensing it maintains oversight of regulated acute and long-term care facilities throughout the state.

New Jersey Department of Human Services

New Jersey Department of Human Services (DHS) is one of the largest State Departments and works with some of the state's most vulnerable citizens, including the visually impaired and hard of hearing, people with mental and physical disabilities and the developmentally disabled.


New Jersey Department of Community Affairs

The Department of Community Affairs (DCA) strengthens communities by assisting with the delivery of affordable housing through the Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (HMFA), and supportive services such as weatherization and low income energy assistance programs.

New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance

The Department of Banking and Insurance (DOBI) regulates the banking, insurance and real estate industries, and provides activities to protect and educate the New Jersey consumer.

New Jersey Department of Transportation

The Department of Transportation (DOT) provides reliable, safe, and socially responsible transportation and motor vehicle services for the residents of New Jersey, and through the Motor Vehicles Commission (MVC) licenses vehicles.

New Jersey Department of Treasury, Division of Taxation

The Department of Treasury, Division of Taxation administers the State's tax laws to ensure the maximum collection of revenues needed to support public services.

New Jersey Department of Children and Families

The Department of Children and Families was created in 2006 to improve services focused on child protection, welfare, education and permanency, child behavioral health and abuse prevention.

New Jersey Department of the Public Advocate

The Department of the Public Advocate was re-established in 2006 to protect the interests of the public, with a special focus on the elderly, people with mental illness or developmental disabilities, consumers and children. The department includes the Office of the Ombudsman for the Institutionalized Elderly and the Office of the Child Advocate.
