In January of 1981, a citizen advisory committee was established to advise the County Executive and the Board of Chosen Freeholders regarding the delivery of coordinated alcoholism services in Mercer County. It was called the Mercer County Alcoholism Advisory Committee. By 1983, Public Law 1983, Chapter 531 was passed. This increased the responsibility of the advisory committee. This law established Local Advisory Committees on Alcohol in each county. The Mercer County Advisory Committee was designated as the local Advisory Committee on Alcohol (LACA). The LACA was required to develop an annual compressive plan and recommend the distribution of monies derived from the Chapter 531 funds. They continue to do so today under the name of LACADA, the Local Advisory Committee on Alcohol and Drug Abuse.
To access treatment, a citizen must be a Mercer County resident, have no insurance and be indigent. To obtain services from the above providers please contact the Office on Addiction Services at (609)989-6897. At that time, the contact numbers for outpatient services will be provided. Citizens must call the outpatient provider and request an assessment. After the assessment has been completed, and the level of care determined, a referral for the appropriate services will be made by the outpatient provider.
