Mercer County Mosquito Control has a need for three seasonal vector ecologists for the upcoming 2008 mosquito season (~May to Sept/Oct). These positions are available immediately and will remain open until filled, with the successful applicants being familiar with basic biological concepts and an understanding of good laboratory and field practices. The applicants will be working on a USDA-ARS funded trial to control and suppress the Asian Tiger Mosquito, Aedes albopictus, in urban areas of Mercer County. Lead researchers for this grant are based in Rutgers University (Center for Vector Biology) and the work will be conducted in Mercer County. This project will include laboratory identification of mosquitoes and possible small scale experiments but will focus mainly on field work ranging from trapping and surveillance of local mosquito populations to pesticide treatments. Directs and supervises the County's personnel and risk management programs. Responsible for all administrative work in planning, organizing, directing and coordinating the personnel activities of the County and other related duties. The work involves the development of a broad program of personnel planning, reporting, control and service. EXPERIENCE: Extensive public sector experience in N.J., state, county or local government required, five (5) years of which must have been in personnel administration and two (2) years must be as Director or Assistant Director.
