TRENTON, N.J.
-With Memorial Day kicking off the summer season, Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes is reminding residents that they don't need to go far to enjoy festive, fun, and inexpensive weekend activities this summer.

"Mercer County has some of the best natural, cultural, and historic resources anywhere in the country, and it's all right here at our fingertips," said Hughes. "All it takes is a short trip to see some amazing sites, watch a play, visit a museum, or enjoy yourself outdoors at one of the County's great parks."

Increasingly expensive prices for gasoline make far-off weekend trips infeasible for many residents and families. Hughes suggested residents could cut down the cost of driving by alternative transportation methods like Amtrak, the River LINE, or a bus ride, or by carpooling with others.

The following are suggestions for affordable and fun trips to take in Mercer County.
