June-20-08 Hughes Announces 2008 Freedom Festival at Mercer County Park

(609) 278-7137 WEST WINDSOR, N.J. -Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes today announced the annual Mercer County Freedom Festival will be held in conjunction with popular radio station 94.5 WPST on Saturday, July 5. The festival, which has grown increasingly popular each year, will be held at Mercer County Park in West Windsor from 3 to 11 p.m. The Freedom Festival features a stellar lineup of live music, food, rides, crafts and games, and culminates with a fireworks display at nightfall-all free of charge. "The Freedom Festival grows bigger and better each year and we are so pleased that it has become an anticipated attraction,'' said Hughes. "Our Mercer County Park is better than ever and I invite everyone to come to this free, family event." A variety of food and beverage vendors, local breweries and wineries, and craft vendors will be on hand, as well as children's entertainment like inflatable rides, hot air balloons, animal exhibits, and agricultural displays by the 4-H Club. The concert lineup starts at 3 p.m. with Verdict, followed by The Nerds at 5 p.m.; The Sensational Soul Cruisers at 7 p.m.; the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra at 7 p.m. on the Symphony Stage, and The Dawgs at 9:45 p.m. One of the area's best fireworks displays will begin at approximately 9:15 p.m. Hughes said the County was pleased to partner with co-host WPST and all the sponsors. |
