TRENTON, N.J. -Mercer County's refurbished Mountain View Golf Course continues to attract prestigious golf events as it has been selected recently as a qualifying venue for the 7th Annual Collegiate Golf Alliance (CGA) National Collegiate Golf Championship hosted by Rider University and The College of New Jersey.
"It's quite an honor for our club to be involved in such high profile events," said Kevin Bannon, Executive Director of the Mercer County Park Commission, which operates the course. "It says a lot about the caliber of the Mountain View Golf Course and the appreciation tournament organizers have for the challenge it offers. We're very proud to be associated with the CGA National Collegiate Golf Championship, and are happy to support the entire Rider and College of New Jersey population of golfers, from students to alumni."
On October 3, Mountain View Golf Course will be one of 50 "Local Qualifier" host courses nationwide that will host play to qualify teams in three divisions for the National Collegiate Golf Championship, an annual competition to determine the top two-person amateur golf team in America. The National Championship, which will be covered by Fox Sports West, will be held on November 7-9 at the Silverstone Golf Club in Las Vegas.
Qualifying teams in the three college divisions - student, faculty/staff and alumni/community - will advance into the National Championship. Travel stipends and national entry support are available depending on total Local Qualifier participation. A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit charitable golf initiatives, including support of the National Intramural Recreational Sports Association Foundation.
More information on the Local Qualifier tournament is available by contacting Tournament Director Dianna Clauss at email@example.com. Tournament registration and info are also available at http://www.cgagolflinks.com/tournament_detail.asp?tournament_id=749.
