IN OTHER PARK NEWS, the Dog Park at Mercer County Park in West Windsor will be closed to the public through April 15, 2009 for annual cleaning and maintenance, the Park Commission has announced.
Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes cut the ribbon on the popular runs - one for dogs 35 pounds or less and the other for large dogs - in May 2005, and since that time it has become one of the most used features at the county park. "Dog owners tell us how pleased they are to have a safe location for their dogs to run off leash," Hughes said.
The popularity of the runs means a lot of wear and tear on the area, and park staff will take the next few weeks to groom the area and lay down grass seed. Dog owners can still use any of Mercer County Park Commission park areas to exercise their dogs, but they must be leashed. For additional information, call (609) 989-6559.
