TRENTON, N.J.—The Mercer County Library System recently launched a “blog” to provide its patrons with a collaborative outlet of current information about upcoming programs, library resources and services, library news and events at its nine branch libraries.

Blog visitors are encouraged to post their comments and suggestions for future postings and provide valuable feedback for staff to provide the high service, quality, and excellence for which the library system has been nationally recognized.

The blog can be accessed through the home page of the library’s website, www.mcl.org, or directly at http://mercercountylibrary.blogspot.com. Library staff will be posting entries regularly to the blog, covering topics in the following areas: “Kids’ Corner,” written by youth services librarians and focusing on young readers; “Teen Topics,” also written by youth services and focusing on teen issues; “What’s New?,” highlighting recently acquired books, movies and music; “Reference,” written by reference staff will offer research tips; “Tech Tips,” featuring information about library technology and useful hints about computers and electronics; and the “Office Guru,” which will offer pointers on Microsoft Office software programs.

In February 2009, the Mercer County Library System was ranked among the nation’s best libraries. The Mercer County Library System earned a five-star rating from the Library Journal, one of just three libraries in New Jersey to receive this top honor, and only three other libraries in the state achieved a star-rating.

The Mercer County Library System, made up of nine conveniently located branches, recognizes that access to information empowers individuals with knowledge and opportunity. The Library System is committed to providing the materials and services that satisfy the educational, informational, recreational, and cultural needs of its diverse community and strives to encourage a lifelong interest in reading.
