Jobs available for Mercer youth aged 14 to 21
TRENTON, N.J.—Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes is proud to announce new job opportunities for County youth will be available for summer 2010.
The Mercer County One-Stop Career Center will host the first information session on these job opportunities tomorrow, Thursday, April 15 at 3:30 p.m. at the One-Stop Center at 26 Yard Ave., Trenton.
Through the One-Stop Center’s job readiness training, Mercer County residents ages 14 through 21 will have the chance to apply for private sector jobs in retail, recreation, and food service. Additionally, some public sector jobs may be available depending on federal funding.
Those who are interested must call (609) 278-7981 or visit the One-Stop Center in person to register for the session. Sessions will be held at 3:30 p.m. each Thursday beginning tomorrow.
Youth will receive an application at the information session and are then required to attend a Job Readiness session. Any available jobs will be filled only by youth who follow this process.
Mercer County is also teaming up with Six Flags Great Adventure in 2010 to provide jobs to County youth ages 16 to 21. One-Stop will hold job recruitment sessions for Great Adventure at One-Stop on Tuesdays at 3:30 p.m. for positions such as ride operator, host/hostess, admissions, and park services. Those interested must register for a session by calling (609) 989-6200 or in-person at the One-Stop Center. Youth must bring two forms of ID, their work history, and references to the Great Adventure job recruitment session. Transportation to interviews can be provided.
