TRENTON, N.J. - Thanks to the generosity of scores of employees and friends of Mercer County government, local needy children will have a very merry Christmas this year as County Executive Brian M. Hughes donated piles of donated gifts to Children’s Futures on Dec. 16.

Hughes turned the gifts over to Children’s Futures President Floyd K. Morris Jr., who said the gifts will greatly help the nonprofit organization meet its goal of collecting 10,000 donated toys and books for children in the Greater Trenton area.

“I am overwhelmed once again at the compassion our employees and our community show during the holidays. These gifts are likely going to children who would have received little to nothing during the holiday season, and their generosity has made for many, many happy children,” Hughes said.

Children’s Futures is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization focused on improving health and development outcomes for children and their families. The organization works by engaging community partners to help break down family isolation; building trust between and among residents; forming alliances with health care providers; promoting positive parenting through information, resources and programs; and, helping Trenton's most vulnerable citizens secure essential services.
