TRENTON, N.J. - Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes and area veterans will gather at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 27, in the Field of Honor section at Greenwood Cemetery in Hamilton to hold the County’s annual Memorial Day observance.

Hughes will deliver opening remarks at the observance, which has been organized by the County Department of Veteran Services and the Mercer County Veterans Council. Col. Anthony DeVito, director of operations for Joint Force Headquarters, New Jersey Air National Guard, will deliver the keynote address.

The ceremony to salute the men and women from Mercer County who have given their lives in service to their fellow Americans also includes other tributes. Following the keynote address, Hughes, Col. DeVito, and U.S. Naval Reserve Captain Stanley J. Winowicz will lay a wreath in the Field of Honor; the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 491 and the Submarine Service Association of New Jersey will fire a 21-gun salute; and taps will be played by U.S. Army 1st Sgt. Richard Pinter (ret.)
