TRENTON, N.J. - The ninth annual Touch-A-Truck event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, outside the Sun National Bank Center in Trenton.

Whether looking out from the cab of a massive dump truck, feeling the power of the claw of a tough bulldozer, or getting behind the wheel of a larger-than-life fire engine, Mercer County Improvement Authority’s annual Touch-A-Truck event offers children of all ages an opportunity to experience the vehicles that get the job done.

“Everyone loves this popular event because it turns kids into participants instead of spectators as they get a chance to sit in the driver’s seat of these rigs,” said Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes. “We owe a big thanks to our sponsors who donate time, funds and equipment year after year for this great family event.”

In addition to fire trucks, dozens of other vehicles including ambulances, loaders and garbage trucks will be on display.

New to the event this year will be The Boys & Girls Club Bike Exchange. Families may bring their unwanted bikes and donate them to the club. Proceeds from the sale of the recycled bikes will help support the after-school programs at the Boys & Girls Clubs in Trenton and Newark. For more information on the program, please visit

The family-friendly event will be held rain or shine. County employees and owners of area companies will display their polished vehicles and will be on hand to answer questions—and to allow children to climb in or on their vehicles.

Robo Willie, the Mercer County Improvement Authority’s mascot, will be making a special appearance along with Bob the Builder and Rivet of the Trenton Titans. Touch-A-Truck will also feature a food court and face painter.

Sponsors of the event are: Hawk’s Towing, Joseph Jingoli and Son Inc., New Jersey Education Association, L & S Contracting. Construction Industry Advancement Program of New Jersey, Sun National Bank Center and Waste Management.
