TRENTON, N.J. - The Mercer County Park Commission still has a limited number of openings for its lively summer program, Aquatic Adventure Camp.

Aquatic Adventure Camp is designed to provide an awesome and unique summer experience filled with kayaking, hiking, games and science experiments.

Aquatic Adventure is designed to balance environmental science with summer fun.  During this five-day camp, activities such as fishing, daily hikes, birding and water quality testing bring to life the fascinating world of freshwater ecology. Kayaks are the primary mode of transportation as campers paddle the creek and coves of Mercer Lake, and the county pontoon boat will serve as a floating laboratory for group experiments and activities. Each camper is provided with a kayak and paddle, a personal floatation device, and all the equipment needed for daily activities. Never used a kayak? No problem. All campers will receive instruction on kayaking basics and water safety.

This popular environmental summer camp only has a few remaining openings, which are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Two sessions of Aquatic Adventure, for children entering grades 7 – 9, will be offered this summer. Camp Session D runs Monday, July 22 – Friday, July 26, and Camp Session E runs Monday, Aug. 5 – Friday, Aug. 9. This camp is held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Mercer County Marina in Mercer County Park, at a cost of $300.
