Roadmaps

As a way to optimize participants’ learning beyond the classroom, the Office of Training has prepared “roadmaps” of Skillsoft courses that complement our classroom training. The recommended group of online courses will significantly expand upon the various classroom topics presented during the training program.

E-learning “roadmaps” may consist of the following e-learning tools:

  • Traditional e-learning videos that reinforce key concepts related to our classroom training.
  • Short impact series that offer real workplace issues through reenactments and walk you through resolutions.
  • Interactive challenges that provide real time application of new skills presented in the form of workplace simulated scenarios.

Below is a sample of the Roadmap that is currently used by participants who attend the Support Specialist Program.

Challenge of Learning: Learning to Learn

  • Broadening Your Learning Horizons- 10 minutes
  • Targeting Personal Learning- 20 minutes

 Communicating Effectively

  • Giving Feedback to Coworkers- 12 minutes
  • Listening with Skill- 1 hour

Problem Solving and Decision Making

  • Solving Problems: Generating and Evaluating Alternatives- 39 minutes
  • Solving Problems: Framing the Problem- 31 minutes

 

 

 

 
 
Bundles

E-learning “bundles” are a compilation of Skillsoft courses that the Office of Training packaged together to assist public employees reach professional development goals easily and efficiently. Learners can explore Skillsoft course topics without guesswork or time-consuming searches of the various catalogue options.  Employees may simply choose a training topic “bundle” and a pre-selected list of courses are just a click away. 

E-learning “bundles” may include the following e-learning tools:

  • Traditional e-learning videos to introduce key concepts.
  • Short impact series that demonstrate the ways a skill can be applied in a work setting.
  • Interactive challenges that provide simulated workplace scenarios to practice new skills.

 

Below is a sample of the Stress Management Bundle that is currently available in the LMS. Each bundle can have up to 20 courses.

  • Emotional Intelligence: Owning Your Emotions
  • Forging Ahead with Perseverance and Resilience
  • Make the Time You Need: Get Organized

  • Optimizing Your Work/Life Balance: Maninting Your Life Balance
  • Optimizing Your Work/Life Balance: Taking Control of Your Stress
