Matices

First published in the winter of 1994, MATICE”S, the CHPRD’s quarterly newsletter was created for the purpose of providing an outreach mechanism.
Its name reflects the richness and diversity of the Hispanic community. MATICES stands for “tint, hues, nuances, blending of colors, shades of meaning.” It conveys the message that there are different cultures within the Hispanic community, each unique with traits and traditions, all of which together form that beautiful fabric proudly call “Hispanidad.” MATICES is the CHPRD’s mechanism for enlightening those who are not aware of the many successes, contributions, culture, traditions and other treasures of the Hispanic community. Since its first publication, the success stories of many prominent Latinos have been featured, readers have been appraised of issues impacting the Latino community both local and national, very talented Latinos have provided artistic contributions, traditional recipes have been shared, etc. This newsletter is published bi-annually and distributed to over 3,000 individuals and organizations.
