Training and Scholarship Opportunities |
The
CHPRD partners with public and private entities to coordinate
various trainings to increase the capacity of Hispanic led,
non-profits and community-based organizations to serve New
Jersey’s Hispanic residents. The CHPRD’s Training
and Technical Assistance partnerships include:
Current Initiative:

Capacity
Building and Training Partnership with the Hispanic Directors
Association of New Jersey (HDA) - This initiative
focuses on providing further development in the delivery
of services to the HDA’s member organizations. Through
this collaboration, the CHPRD is able to assure quality
technical assistance and training in the areas of financial
management, board development, and strategic planning.

| Past
Initiatives:
- Certificate
for Non-Profit Management Program. This is
a partnership with Rutgers University Newark’s Department
of Public Administration that focuses on encouraging employees
of Hispanic community-based organizations to enhance their
educational development by enrolling in the Certificate
for Non-Profit Management Program. This certificate program
provides participants the opportunity to further their skills
in budgeting, leadership, networking, resource development,
volunteer-management and staff development. The CHPRD provides
four scholarships to employees of Hispanic community-based
organizations or alumni of the Hispanic Interns in Community
Service Program who are employed by a non-profit.
- Southern
Regional Leadership Institute. A partnership
with Rutgers University’s Center for Strategic Urban
Community Leadership that provides scholarships to directors
or staff members of Hispanic community-based organizations
who are located in the southern region in the state to participate
in a leadership institute.
- Hispanic
Social Entrepreneurial Scholarship. In partnership
with the New Jersey Economic Development Agency, and the
Foundation for the Center for Hispanic Policy, the Hispanic
Social Entrepreneurial Scholarship provides the opportunity
for Hispanic non-profits to participate in the New Jersey
Economic Development Agency's Entrepreneurial Training Institute
(ETI). The eight-week ETI Not-for-Profit training course
program is designed to help not-for-profit organizations
become enrolled in the not-for-profit curriculum complete
a market analysis to identify the need for services their
organizations provide. They also review planning, marketing
and financial fundamentals and learn how to develop resources
and organize boards to ensure that their agency runs efficiently
and effectively. The scholarship includes assessment, ETI
and target facilitation during class, then business mentoring.
- HRDI
Training– A partnership with the NJ
Department of Personnel, Human Resource Development Institute
in which Hispanic community based organization are provided
the opportunity to access trainings available through the
Human Resource Development Institute (HRDI) within the New
Jersey Department of Personnel. Each participating organization
is given the opportunity to select up to four training courses
at no charge. The HRDI curriculum consists of courses in
management, leadership, customer service, diversity and
technology.
