Susan Bass Levin 

 

Susan Bass Levin, the thirteenth Commissioner of DCA, was appointed in 2002 by Governor Jim McGreevey.

Commissioner Bass Levin’s career spans 35 years in law and government service, as well as leadership in nonprofit and community organizations. Prior to her appointment, Bass Levin served as the Mayor of Cherry Hill from 1988 to 2002. In her career, she has served in the Cabinet of three Governors as the Commissioner of the Department of Community Affairs, and as the Deputy Executive Director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

Bass Levin is currently the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Cooper Foundation at Cooper University Heath Care, an academic medical center committed to world-class patient care, education and research. She is currently on the board of the Literacy Volunteers of Camden County, the Cherry Hill Public Library, Cooper Lanning Square Renaissance School, Inc. and the Chamber of Commerce of Southern New Jersey.

Bass Levin has been honored by many organizations for her work in the public and private sectors. She is a graduate of the University of Rochester (Phi Beta Kappa). She received her law degree from George Washington University Law School, where she was a member of the Law Review.
