Jane Kenny 

 

Jane Kenny, the twelfth Commissioner of DCA, was appointed in 1996 by Governor Christine Todd Whitman.

Commissioner Kenny has served in high-level management positions in the private sector and in several complex and diverse government agencies. In 2001, President George W. Bush appointed her as the Regional Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), where she oversaw the agency’s work in New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. Prior to serving as DCA Commissioner, she served as Governor Whitman’s Chief of Policy and Planning after her first election. Governor Thomas H. Kean appointed her as his Cabinet Secretary for his second term in office. In between her years in government, she was the vice president of Corporate and Community Affairs in the financial services industry.

Kenny is currently owner and managing partner at the Whitman Strategy Group. She is also a Director at New Jersey Resources, a Fortune 1000 company, and Chair of the Nominating and Corporate Governance and Leadership and Development Committees. She also serves on the board of NJ Resources Clean Energy Ventures, which invests in, owns and operates renewable energy projects. She is a trustee for New Jersey Future and for the Sustainable State Institute of New Jersey. She is also a Visiting Associate at the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers University.

She received her bachelor’s degree from Trinity University and a master’s degree from Rutgers University. She attended Harvard University JFK School of Government’s Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government as the recipient of the Women Executives in State Government Excellence in Leadership Fellowship.
