Patricia Q. Sheehan

 

Patricia Q. Sheehan, the fourth Commissioner of DCA, was appointed by Governor Brendan T. Byrne in 1974.

Before her appointment, Commissioner Sheehan served as Mayor of New Brunswick, a position to which she had been elected in 1967 and re-elected in 1970. She had, at the same time, been employed by Johnson & Johnson as a compensation analyst from 1963 to 1972 and then as Corporation Relations Department Administrator from 1972 to 1974.

Sheehan received her bachelor’s degree in history and government from Trinity College, Washington, DC in 1955. She subsequently attended the Rutgers Graduate School of Education and received honorary doctor of law degrees from the College of St. Elizabeth (1974), Rider College (1975) and St. Peter’s College (1977).
