We want you...to tell us who you are. The State’s
GovConnect program has a government Technology list serve for all
those in state, local, county, and K-12 school agencies.
Tell us who you are by filling out the very brief survey at www.nj.gov/dca/surveys/tcsurvey.htm
and we'll add you to the process.
As a further way to help the government technology community, technology
coordinators should also know about the association of government
IT professionals –GMIS International. GMIS International was
formed in 1971 and has grown to over 500 members representing 34
states, 230 cities, 215 counties, and the countries of Canada, Sweden,
New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands.
NJ GMIS is the association for Government IT leaders here in New
Jersey. Members are welcome from all New Jersey government agencies:
state, local, school, county, and authorities. NJ GMIS conducts
an annual conference each April which brings together IT Leaders
from all sectors of government for a one day educational and networking
conference.
The organizations serve as forums where government IT professionals
exchange information, strategies, problems and solutions in order
to accumulate "best practices" knowledge and techniques
that will benefit their agencies. GMIS International and NJ GMIS
also sponsor a National Certification program for Government IT
Managers, the Certified Government Chief Information Officer, originally
developed by the University of North Carolina. This program is now
available to NJ GMIS Members at a discounted rate through Rutgers
University and taught by Dr. Alan Shark Director of the Public Technology
Institute.
For more information about NJ GMIS and the benefits of joining including
the CGCIO Certification program, check their website at
www.njgmis.org
or contact any of the local coordinators:
If you are interested in playing an active role in GMIS and support
your fellow Technology Coordinators, please let them know.
