EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. – At the 2006 Governor’s Conference for Women, New Jersey Department of Community Affairs Commissioner Susan Bass Levin tonight honored Rutgers Women’s Basketball Head Coach C. Vivian Stringer with the 2006 Woman of Excellence Award.

“The 2006 Governor’s Conference for Women celebrates women who work to make a difference in the lives of others,” Commissioner Levin said.  “As someone who has devoted her entire career to helping young women achieve their dreams, Coach Stringer is a true inspiration to us all.”

Commissioner Levin presented the award – a basketball signed by Governor Jon S. Corzine – to Coach Stringer during the networking reception, which concluded the day-long conference.

Approximately 1,200 New Jersey women leaders in the business, healthcare, nonprofit and government sectors attended the 2006 Governor’s Conference for Women, hosted by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs.  The theme of this year’s conference was “Make Your Mark,” and sessions were designed to encourage participants how to make a difference through advocacy and leadership.  In addition to Coach Stringer, special guest speakers included Governor Jon S.
