DCA and Division on Women Host

Women's Entrepreneurship Series Event

200 Aspiring and Established Women Business Leaders Gather to
Boost NJ’s Business

PRINCETON, N.J. – With the goal of spurring more entrepreneurial activity among women in the Garden State, the New Jersey Division on Women today hosted the first of a three-part business entrepreneurship series that was created specifically for women. The sold-out event at the Westin Princeton at Forrestal Village drew 200 women from around the state, each with the goal of growing an established business or launching a new one.

"By and large, studies show that women score higher than their male counterparts on a wide variety of measures related to business," said New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) Acting Commissioner Richard E. Constable, III.  "The enormous response to this inaugural session of the WE series serves as an important reminder that New Jersey has vast resources of untapped talent, skill and energy. Through these events, we intend to provide the tools that women need to utilize those assets and put them to work for the good of our state."

Today's participants heard from a host of experts who provided up-to-date information on business strategy and marketing, plus much more. Keynoters included Assemblywoman BettyLou Decroce, who recently served as Deputy Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs and is herself an accomplished entrepreneur, and Veronica Niki Fielding, President and CEO of Digital Brand Expression, who is a recognized Internet marketing expert.

Attendees also had the opportunity to interact with presenters and veterans who were there to 'show them the ropes,' as well as visit a comprehensive exhibit area featuring organizations and groups committed to entrepreneurship.

The 2012 NJ WE Series is an empowering economic development forum for New Jersey's aspiring and established women business leaders. The 2012 NJ WE Series working group sessions are uniquely structured into the Aspiring Entrepreneurs (AE) and Established Entrepreneurs (EE) business tracks. The 2012 NJ WE Series is a no charge event and is funded by a grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
