Life Skills Training offers instruction in daily living domains such as budgeting and financial management, communication, decision making, self care, and housing. Assistance in obtaining a high school diploma, career exploration, vocational training, job placement, and job retention are also included.
Case workers can refer adolescents, who are at least 14 years of age and in a DCP&P paid placement, for Life Skills training. If adolescents are in a DCP&P sponsored living arrangement or a congregate care setting, they may be receiving this training as part of their ongoing programming; if they are, then they need not be referred to the stand alone Life Skills training programs. There are only a limited number of Life Skills training slots contracted for in each county. Following is the list of contracted Life Skills training providers:
