Barnegat Bay Blitz
Greenwood Forest Cleanup
May 9, 2012: Commissioner Martin visited the Lacey Township High School, met with 45 volunteers and helped them clean around their school grounds. Some volunteers from the DEP and the community cleaned around Lake Barnegat, Lower Lake and Deerhead Lake. About 12 more volunteers from various state parks throughout New Jersey tackled Greenwood Forest and filled a dumpster with trash! The Goddard School, Elementary School and Middle School will be cleaning on their property in the near future. Thank you to all who participated!

October 19, 2011 Blitz Recap:
Barnegat Bay blitz at Lacey Township High School (Oct 20, 2011)
Environmental Science students from Lacey Township High School participated in a litter clean up on school property under the supervision of their teacher, Mrs. Karen Hopson and with the assistance of the Lacey Township Department of Public works that distributed supplies and collected the bagged and oversized litter. In addition to the many bags of trash and recyclables collected, a number of large items ranging from rusted bed frames and couches to empty propane tanks and picnic tables were also removed from school property.
As a ramp up to the event, Mrs. Hopson and her students spent classroom time learning about watersheds and nonpoint source pollution.
