Expanding the CollectionBoth the document catalogue and the Directory of Environmental Organizations continue to grow. Documents and new organization listings can be submitted online via a simple self-registration process. This involves providing some contact information and obtaining a password. The NJEDL also offers unique services not often found at traditional web sites or traditional libraries. For example, the NJEDL actively manages the archiving of digital documents to ensure data formats are upgraded to current technology, and documents are preserved into the future. In addition, the system can digitally preserve historic or rare documents and provide access to documents that would otherwise be too fragile for general public access. The "Scan on Demand" service (for hard copy documents) and large format scanning capabilities are also available upon special request. Anyone involved in environmental work in New Jersey can contribute directly to the NJEDL by registering documents and adding to the Directory of Environmental Organizations. You can ensure that the NJEDL achieves its full potential of serving the environmental information needs of New Jersey by getting involved. For further information on how you can help, please contact the NJEDL directly at njenv@rci.rutgers.edu.
