| A Newsletter About New Jersey's Water Quality Programs |
|
by William F. Boehle, Chief, Bureau of Permit Management
Have you visited the Division of Water Quality (DWQ) web site lately? This site is your portal to information on all of the Division's programs, including forms, checklists, regulations, and bureau contacts. Find it at: www.state.nj.us/dep/dwq. The DWQ receives many public requests for information from the New Jersey Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NJPDES) database. Rather than treating each of these inquiries as a custom retrieval, which takes time and money to produce, the Division has made some of this information available on-line, at no cost, in a limited format. Some of the more popular and most requested information has been posted on the web site for download and updates and expanded information is made available on a periodic basis. The direct link for accessing this information is http://www.state.nj.us/dep/dwq/database.htm.
Recently added to the web site is a crosslink to a series of reports that are available through the Department's Open Public Records Act web site. These semi-custom reports are generated through a link to the NJEMS database system. In addition to lists of permits selectable by a variety of categories, this interactive link allows for the retrieval and download of NJPDES Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR) and Wastewater Characterization Report (WCR) data. The DMR and WCR data became available for user selected periods beginning in July 2000. The report displays the raw data as reported by the permittees to the Department. If you have questions concerning NJPDES data that is available via the Internet or custom retrievals, you may contact the Bureau of Permit Management at (609) 984-4428. |
