To provide accurate NJPDES discharge locations for staff and the public, the DEP has recently updated reported locations in its database for both surface and groundwater locations. This effort included the use of Geographical Positioning Satellite (GPS) technology by DEP enforcement staff. Using the most accurate information available, two Geographical Information System themes have been compiled and are available for downloading from the DEP's web site.

To view the data's distribution throughout the State, the metadata (description of the coverage), and to download either coverage, go to www.state.nj.us/dep/gis/stateshp.html. Choose either "NJPDES Ground Water Discharges" or "NJPDES Surface Water Discharges" from the drop down list. This data will be updated on a regular basis as more points are GPS-verified and to reflect other changes in NJPDES discharges.
