| A Newsletter About New Jersey's Water Quality Programs |
The Division of Water Quality is looking for volunteers to electronically report ground water monitoring data. This process significantly cuts down paperwork and eliminates redundant keypunching, reducing entry errors. Although the system is presently geared toward receiving monitoring data from ground water dischargers only, future plans will allow the transmission of data from surface water dischargers as well.
How much time and paper can be saved? Take the Landis Sewerage Authority for example. Prior to electronic transmission, Landis was required to submit over 75 pages of forms to fully report their monitoring data. Today, their report has been condensed to just five pages.
If you are interested in participating in this program, you'll need a personal computer equipped with a modem. Dawn Strano, of the Bureau of Permit Management, will assist you with start up procedures. She can be reached at (609) 984-4428.
Electronic reporting - it's as easy as one, two, three!
| The permitee transfers monitoring data to the NJPDES electronic bulletin board (BBS) via computer modem. | |
| The Bureau of Permit Management uploads the file from the BBS and downloads it to the DEP mainframe. | |
| The Bureau of Permit Management telefaxes the groundwater monitoring report back to the permitee for review and verification. |
