EPA looking for a few good treatment plants
The Environmental Protection Agency is sponsoring an awards program to recognize the nation's top treatment plants. This is your chance to show off the work you and your staff have put into running a first class operation. There are nine categories of awards for Operation and Maintenance Excellence and four categories for Beneficial Use of Biosolids (sludge).
There's no reason why New Jersey's plants should take a back seat to the rest of the country, but EPA can't showcase your accomplishments unless you put forth an effort to submit an application. Applications will not be available until January 1996, but don't wait. Call the following EPA Regional Coordinators now to ensure you receive one:
- Regional O&M Excellence Awards: John C. Mello (212) 637-3836
- Regional Beneficial Use of Biosolids Awards: Alia Roufaeal (212) 637-3864
Region II is also looking into reducing the amount of paperwork (application) required for small facilities (less than 1 MGD) in the O&M Excellence Award Program. Call Mr. Mello for more details.
