EPA Wants You - If You’re Operating a First-Class Treatment Plant

Region II Announces Awards Program

EPA is always looking for first-class municipal treatment plants for its regional awards programs. This is a great opportunity for you and your staff to get some recognition for the time and effort you put into running your facilities. There are nine categories of awards for Operation and Maintenance Excellence and four categories for the Beneficial Use of Biosolids (sludge).

In 1996, four New Jersey treatment plants received Regional O&M Excellence awards at the annual New Jersey Water Environment Association Conference in Atlantic City. Subsequently, all four plants were nominated by the Region to the National Awards Program and received awards! Congratulations to the following New Jersey treatment plants that received national honors at the annual Water Environment Federation Conference on October 7, 1996, in Dallas, Texas:

Medium/Secondary Treatment Category - First Place:
Asbury Park Water Quality Control Facility

Small/Advanced Treatment Category - First Place:
Wrightstown MUA WWTP

Medium/Advanced Treatment Category - Second Place:
Evesham MUA - Elmwood WWTP

Large/Secondary Treatment Category - Second Place:
Cape May County MUA - Wildwood/Lower Regional WWTP

The above facilities would not have received any recognition had they not taken the time to submit applications to the Region. So take that first step and call the following Regional Coordinators now to ensure you receive an application:
