Cape May County MUA Regional Plant Receives National Award

In May 2000 the Cape May County MUA's Regional wastewater treatment plant, located in Cape May Point, was presented the Region's 2000 O&M Excellence Award in the Medium - Secondary Treatment category. The award was presented at the annual NJ Water Environment Association Conference in Atlantic City. After some tough competition from a New York plant in the same category, Cape May's plant was nominated for a National award. In September 2000, after an extensive national competition, the MUA was notified by EPA's J. Charles Fox, Assistant Administrator for Water, that their regional plant had been selected to receive EPA's 2000 National first place award for an exceptional O&M program. The Authority was presented their first place National award at the annual Water Environment Federation Conference in Anaheim, California, on October 16, 2000.

There are many more municipal wastewater treatment plants in New Jersey that should and could be receiving National recognition, so get those applications submitted!
