A Newsletter About New Jersey's Water Quality Programs

Low Cost Financing for Open Space Available

Is your municipality thinking about acquiring open space? Will the acquisition of this open space have a positive impact on water quality? If so, your town could realize substantial savings on the overall purchase by taking advantage of this upcoming financing opportunity.

The New Jersey Infrastructure Financing program offers financing at half the prevailing market interest rate for publicly-owned projects that preserve and enhance water quality. Headwaters, stream corridors, wetlands, and aquifer recharge areas are among the types of land that will be eligible for financing under this new program. Whether or not your town has an open space tax, this is an opportunity to stretch the purchasing power of your open space dollars.

For more information about the financing program and how it can benefit your municipality, please contact the Municipal Finance and Construction Element at (609) 292-8961 or the New Jersey Environmental Infrastructure Trust at (609) 219-8600.
