To Complete the National Clean Water Needs Survey by David Shu, Bureau of Administration and Management
Now is the time to tell the new U.S. Congress you need Federal money to help solve your water pollution control problems. The Division of Water Quality is collecting and documenting water pollution control needs as part of the National Clean Water Needs Survey. This includes not only needs for publicly owned wastewater treatment facilities and correction of combined sewer overflows, but also includes needs associated with the management of stormwater, nonpoint source, confined animal feed operations, and point source mining pollution control. These needs may have been presented in your Budget, Capital Improvement Plan, Facility Performance Evaluation Report, Feasibility Study, Facility Improvement Report, Wastewater Management Plan, etc. The division is required to submit these documents to the U.S.EPA to substantiate your needs. The Year 2000 Clean Water Needs Survey forms were mailed in September 2000 to municipalities, sewerage authorities or utilities, and water pollution control consulting firms. If you have already responded, we want to thank you for your cooperation. Thus far, we have received over 100 responses to this survey; however, we are still asking those who have not completed the survey to not miss this chance. This will enable us to fully document New Jersey's water pollution control (or clean water) needs. If you have any questions about this survey, or you never received a survey from us, please contact us at (609) 633-1208 and ask for Chuck Parkell or David Shu to get further information.
