Welcome to Compliance & Enforcement’s (C&E) training web site!

Compliance assistance training is part of C&E’s continuing commitment to quality customer service.  This web site is designed to help individuals, business, industry and government understand and meet, or surpass, their environmental obligations.   Here you will find useful information such as: current training opportunities, outreach materials, guidance documents, links to additional training web sites, and much more. We invite you to t

Training - Seminar Topics Offered to the Regulated Community

The following compliance assistance seminars have been offered in the past and may be offered in the future in response to interest from the regulated community and others. NJDEP Compliance & Enforcement staff host and guest speak at a wide variety of training seminars.


Air

  • Excess Emission and Monitoring Systems Performance Report

    This seminar provides instruction on how to use the NJDEP Online web portal for submitting an Excess Emission and Monitoring Systems Performance Report.  It also provides a step-by-step presentation of the EEMPR submittal process and how to set up a myNewJersey account.


  • Periodic Compliance Certification

    This seminar provides instruction on how to submit a Periodic Compliance Certification ( i.e. Six-month Deviation Report and Annual Compliance Certification) for Title V facilities using the NJDEP Online web portal.

  • General Permits

    This seminar provides an overview on general permits and provides instruction on how to use the NJDEP Online web portal for obtaining general permits.

  • Combustion Adjustment

    This seminar provides instructions on how to file the annual combustion adjustment report electronically using the NJDEP online portal.

Hazardous Waste

  • RCRA 101

    This seminar provides a thorough overview of both State and Federal Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) regulations. Large, Small, and Conditionally Exempt Generators of hazardous waste; Transporters of hazardous waste and used oil; and Universal Waste Handlers benefit from attending this seminar. The presentation includes a general lecture on understanding the regulations, followed by talks from NJDEP inspectors. It concludes with a panel discussion to answer all your questions.

  • Universal Waste

    This seminar provides a focused emphasis on the subject of Universal Waste. It is full of valuable information for all Universal Waste Small Quantity Handlers, Large Quantity Handlers, Transporters and Destination Facilities. The presentation includes a general lecture on understanding the regulations, followed by talks from industry representatives and NJDEP inspectors.  It concludes with a panel discussion to answer all your questions.

  • Used Oil

    This seminar provides a focused emphasis on the subject of Used Oil.  It is full of valuable information that should benefit all Used Oil Generators, Transporters, Transfer Facilities and Processors. The presentation includes a general lecture on understanding the regulations, followed by talks from an industry representatives and NJDEP inspectors.  It concludes with a panel discussion to answer all your questions.

  • Regulated Medical Waste

    This seminar provides a thorough overview of Regulated Medical Waste (RMW) regulations. Commercial and Non-Commercial Medical Waste Facilities, Generators, Transporters, Destination and Destruction Facilities, Laboratories, Transfer and Treatment Facilities benefit from attending this seminar. The presentation includes a general lecture on understanding the regulations, followed by talks from industry representatives and NJDEP inspectors.  It concludes with a panel discussion to answer all your questions.

  • Pharmaceutical Waste

    This seminar provides a focused overview of Hazardous (RCRA) Pharmaceutical Waste regulations. Commercial and Non-Commercial Medical Waste Facilities, Generators, Transporters, Destination and Destruction Facilities, Laboratories, Transfer and Treatment Facilities, or any other facility that generates RCRA Pharmaceutical Waste should benefit from attending this seminar. The presentation includes a general lecture on understanding the regulations, followed by talks from industry representatives and NJDEP inspectors.  It concludes with a panel discussion to answer all your questions.

Land Use

  • Understanding NJDEP Land Use Jurisdiction & Enforcement

    This seminar is an overview of NJDEP Land Use jurisdiction, including CAFRA, Waterfront Development, Coastal Wetlands, Freshwater Wetlands, and Flood Hazard areas of the state.   It will provide examples of where these regulated areas are located, what they look like,  as well as a brief description of types of common activities that will require permits from the NJDEP within these areas.  In addition, the enforcement process will be discussed including when to notify the NJDEP of a possible violation, various enforcement actions and resolving violations.

  • Land Use Issues and the Real Estate Transaction

    This seminar focuses on understanding NJDEP Land Use regulations and its impacts on a real estate transaction. Specifically, this class educates those involved in a real estate transaction to be aware of NJDEP land use regulated areas and activities which require permits so they can alert their clients to potential NJDEP Land Use concerns and/or check for proper permitting prior to purchase.   NJDEP online resources available, including NJ GeoWeb, Dataminer and filing OPRA requests are also discussed.

Pesticides

  • Pesticide Applicator Business Training Course

    This seminar covers licensing for all members of a pesticide applicator’s business including record keeping, proper maintenance of pesticide storage areas, service vehicle requirements, and how to comply with the current pesticide notification requirements.

UST

  • Compliance Issues for UST Operators

    This seminar focuses on UST registration, regulatory compliance, air permitting, weights and measures, and small business assistance.
