NJ 1998-99 Waterfowl Seasons (proposed)


Dates are tentative until approved by the Federal Government in September. Please consult the NJ 1998-99 Migratory Bird Supplement for further details.

DUCKS - 60 days with compensation for Sundays (60 hunting days)

Daily bag limit: 4 ducks*, which may NOT include more than 2 wood ducks, 2 hen mallards, 1 pintail, 2 redheads, 1canvasback, 1 black duck.
* In addition to the 4 duck daily bag, an extra daily teal limit of 2 green-winged or blue-winged teal, singly or in aggregate, may be taken during the entire season.

CANADA GOOSE - Regular Canada goose season closed

Special Permit Season daily bag limit: 5 Canada geese

ATLANTIC BRANT - 50 days with compensation for Sundays (50 hunting days)

Daily bag limit: 2 Atlantic brant

SNOW GOOSE - 107 days with compensation for Sundays (107 hunting days)

Daily bag limit: 15 snow geese (no possession limit on snow geese)

SEA DUCKS - 107 days with compensation for Sundays (107 hunting days)

Daily bag limit: 7, except no more than 4 may be scoters (in sea duck area)

YOUTH WATERFOWL HUNTING DAY - Sept 26, 1998

Daily bag limit same as regular duck season. Brant and snow geese are legal this year. Canada geese are legal if the youth possesses a Special September Season permit.

RAILS and GALLINULE - (70 days) Sept. 1 - Nov. 7

SNIPE - (107 days) Sept. 25 - Jan. 9

CROWS - Aug. 3 - Mar. 13 (Mon., Thur., Fri. & Sat.)

WOODCOCK - (24 days)
