FOR LOWER RAMAPO RIVER

The New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife has cancelled this year's pre-season and in-season spring trout stocking of the lower section of the Ramapo River from the N.Y.S. & W. railroad bridge downstream to the Doty Road bridge in Oakland, Bergen County. The cancellation is the result of construction activities in and along the river related to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Ramapo River Flood Control Project.

Construction began March 1 and will continue throughout the summer. It is uncertain whether construction will interfere with fall trout stocking in this area; however, trout stocking will resume next spring in this section of the Ramapo River.

There may be opportunities to stock selected locations during in-season periods depending on possible construction delays along the river. The opportunity to stock a particular location will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
