According to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's Division of Fish and Wildlife, the Trapper Training course originally scheduled for October 18 and 21 at Fort Dix has been moved to another location. The course will be held at Sportsmen's Center on Rt. 130 in Bordentown on Thursday, Oct. 18 from 6:30 - 9 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 21 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Successful completion of this course, which includes training with body-gripping snares, box traps and conibears, enables the participant to purchase a trapping license. Please note that individuals who already possess a trapping license, but who are not snare-certified must complete this course in order to use snares.
Any person who has not pre-registered for a trapper education course, but would like to enroll, can "walk-in" to the first session and inform the instructor. Attendance at both sessions is mandatory.
