OCT. 17 OPENING DAY OF WOODCOCK SEASON IN NORTH ZONE

According to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's Division of Fish and Wildlife, October 17 is the opening day of the woodcock season in the North Zone. The North Zone is comprised of the area north of Route 70 from Point Pleasant to Camden.

Hunting hours are sunrise to sunset except on November 9 (the opening day of the Small Game Season) when the starting time is 8 a.m. Nontoxic shot is required. The daily bag limit is three birds with a season possession total of six.

In order to hunt woodcock in the Garden State, an individual must possess a New Jersey hunting license and Harvest Information Program number by calling 1-800-WETLAND or by registering through the Division's website at www.njfishandwildlife.com.
