The Department of Environmental Protection's Division of Fish, Game and Wildlife reminds hunters that the 1999 New Jersey small game season for pheasant, bobwhite quail, chukar, red and gray fox, hare and cottontail rabbit will open November 13. Hunters may wish to review current regulations and season exceptions in the August issue of the New Jersey Fish and Wildlife Digest.
"It is the responsibility of every hunter to keep informed of current regulations, season dates and bag limits before going afield," said Division Director Bob McDowell. "The Division encourages your participation this fall. Please hunt responsibly."
Sportsmen and women should note that hunting hours for the above species are 1/2 hour before sunrise to 1/2 hour after sunset except on opening day, November 13, when legal hours begin at 8 a.m. and continue to 1/2 hour past sunset.
