Eight year-old Bobby Barnard of Salem, NJ, was seven years old when he caught his State Record White Crappie on April 21, 1997 at Riverview Park Pond in Pennsville. Casting from shore and using a minnow as bait, he landed the 2.64 pound fish which measured 15 inches in length on six-pound test line attached to a Shimano rod and reel. This fish bested the old state record of 2.5 pounds, set in 1984.
