Restore Our Streams Workshop
Saturday - November 1st, 2003

The North Jersey Resource Conservation & Development Council, in partnership with several conservation organizations and local and federal agencies, will host a stream restoration workshop on Saturday, November 1st in Neshanic, Somerset County. First held in 1998, this will be the fifth time this popular and informative workshop is offered.

The "Restoring Our Streams" workshop emphasizes the use of low cost techniques involving live plant materials to stabilize the streambank (called bio-engineering). The result is a natural streamside appearance and improvement in the health of the stream and its banks. By combining both classroom education and hands-on field experience, participants will understand the fundamentals of restoring and enhancing streams.

The workshop is being sponsored by NJ State Council of Trout Unlimited and The Watershed Institute in cooperation with: NJ Division of Fish & Wildlife, Natural Resources Conservation Service, North Jersey RC&D Council, and the South Branch Watershed Association.

The workshop brochure and registration is available in PDF format (requires the Acrobat Reader) or by contacting Grace Messinger at North Jersey RC&D at 908-735-0733 ext. 110.
