PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

The SBEAP provides assistance to small businesses on environmental issues. This includes developing, collecting, and coordinating information concerning compliance methods and technologies for small business, and programs to encourage lawful cooperation to further environmental compliance. The program also determines applicable environmental requirements for small businesses in receiving permits, as well as assuring that small businesses receive notice of their rights for them to evaluate compliance methods for any applicable proposed or final regulations or standards issued. In addition the program provides technical assistance with pollution prevention and accidental release detection and prevention, including providing information concerning alternative technologies, process changes, products, and methods of operation that help reduce pollution.

PERMITTING RESPONSIBILITIES:

The program provides assistance to small businesses requiring permits from the department. This includes assistance in identifying which permits a company will need and technical assistance in filing permit applications.
