New Jersey Natural Lands Trust

Registration for the 2017-2018 hunting season is currently CLOSED. Registration for the 2018-2019 season will begin at noon on September 4, 2018.

The Trust’s Petty’s Island Preserve has joined 22 other environmental education centers in NJ, PA & DE with support from the William Penn Foundation to form the Alliance for Watershed Education (AWE). AWE aims to educate and empower communities to achieve and sustain a healthy Delaware River watershed through increasing constituent appreciation, knowledge and stewardship. To inspire more people to become active caretakers of the waterways, the Petty’s Island Preserve and the other 22 centers will host more than 30 interactive events this fall known as “River Days” to provide people with opportunities to explore, enjoy and engage with the Delaware River Watershed.  Petty’s Island will host three River Days events:  a fall bird hike (9/23/17), a clean-up (10/7/17) and a photography workshop (10/14/17).

More information about River Days can be found here.

The New Jersey Natural Lands Trust preserves land in its natural state for enjoyment by the public and to protect natural diversity through the acquisition of open space. The Trust manages its properties to conserve elements of natural diversity, such as habitat for rare plant and animal species and rare ecological communities.

The Trust invites passive use by the public for recreational or educational purposes wherever such use will not adversely affect elements of natural diversity.

Currently the Trust owns or manages over 29,500 acres of open space from Sussex to Cape May Counties, including over 2,500 acres of conservation easements.
