Hamilton Township, Atlantic County
177 Acres
This protected parcel, named as a tribute to the family who donated
this land for preservation in 1991, is now surrounded by several
hundred acres of the NJ Division and Wildlife’s Great Egg
Harbor River WMA, Folsom section. Combined, these areas protect
important wetlands that support the nearby Great Egg Harbor River.
The typical pine forest upland alternates with wetlands of Atlantic
white cedar. This area has historic records for the endangered
pine snake. Now, with a large block of protected lands and a maturing
forest, the area will become better suited for these rare snakes
as well as other wildlife.
Public Access and Uses:
Visitors are welcome to explore the remote area for hiking and
birding opportunities. Since the New Jersey Division of Fish and
Wildlife has a strong enforcement presence at the adjoining Wildlife
Management Area, the Trust allows for deer hunting at this preserve
without the need for registration. Access to the site is best
available from the Wildlife Management Area.
