Winter/Spring Prescribed Burn Season Please be advised that the season for prescribed burning, for state and private lands, has been extended to April 1st in Divisions B & C (Areas south of the Raritan River) and until April 10th in Division A (Areas north of the Raritan River). Private lands prescribed permits are still being issued although time is short. Please apply for permits early in the Fall in order to get full advantage of the prescribed burn season. Please fill out and return the application below to receive a prescribed burn permit.

New Jersey State Forestry Services has had a long standing policy of assisting land owners with prescribed burning. Although this policy is under review landowners who are seeking NJFFS assistance should contact the State Forest Fire Warden at 609-292-2977 to obtain current information on the status of their request.

Thank you for your understanding.

The southern pine beetle (SPB), one of the most destructive forest insects in the southeastern United States, quickly devastates pine-dominated forests during high infestations.  Not only is the Southern Pine Beetle one of the most destructive insects, but it also increases wildfire danger to people, property, and the environment.
