Alternate Format: Adobe Acrobat [pdf 529 Kb]

The NJDEP has designated twenty-six properties in the Borough of Palmyra as a Brownfield Development Area (BDA). The Route 73 South Redevelopment Area BDA consists of approximately 190 acres and represents more than 15% of Palmyra’s total land area. It is located at the base of the of the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge, a gateway into New Jersey from Philadelphia, and is adjacent to the 350-acre Palmyra Cove Nature Park (along the Delaware River). The BDA includes 26 brownfield properties. Former and current uses of the properties include deposition of dredge spoils, a private landfill, a private airport, a sand and gravel mining operation, a munitions test area for the Philadelphia-based Frankford arsenal, gasoline service stations, used car dealerships, car repair shops and five residential units.

Planned Use: Mixed-use, commercial/retail and recreational with a planned greenway along Route 73 corridor as a gateway into the Borough of Palmyra and New Jersey and a greenbelt buffer along the boundary with the Palmyra Cove Nature Park and the Pennsauken Creek.
