Sunshine Cleaners, PI#: 267431, City of Northfield, Atlantic CountyThe New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) has contracted Kleinfelder East, Inc. (Kleinfelder) to perform a Remedial Investigation (RI) of the soil and groundwater at the Sunshine Cleaners, located at 1630 Tilton Road (B: 97, L: 13) in Northfield City. Remedial Action Construction Initiated at the Global Landfill Superfund Site (Old Bridge Township, Middlesex County, PI: G000003352)On behalf of the Global PRP Group, Golder Associates submitted a Final (100%) Design Report (FDR) to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) and the United States Environmental Protection Agency. In September 2009, the NJDEP approved the October 2007 Final (100%) Design Report and associated March 2009 Addendum. The FDR was developed to provide the specifications of the proposed design for a cap cover system. The remedial action construction began in May 2010.
A Wetland Mitigation Project is being initiated in the 10 acre marsh area located at Block 451, Lot 1.04 in Sayreville Borough, Middlesex County. This project is being completed in order to satisfy a portion of the wetland mitigation obligations related to the remediation of the Global Landfill Superfund Site. Technical Assistance GrantsThe New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection announces the introduction of a Technical Assistance Grant program. The program provides funding to nonprofit community groups to employ independent Licensed Site Remediation Professionals as technical advisors to perform activities to improve the public’s understanding of environmental conditions and remediation of contaminated sites in their communities.
