Technical Assistance Grants (TAG)In recognition of the need for people living near Superfund sites to be well informed and involved with decisions concerning the site, Congress authorized the TAG program. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) can award grants of up to $50,000 per site. Grants allow community groups to hire an independent expert to help them interpret technical data, understand site hazards and become more knowledgeable about the different technologies that are being used to clean sites. Your community group may be eligible for a grant if you are affected by a Superfund site that is listed or proposed for listing on the National Priorities List. For further information on the TAG program in the Region II area (NY, NJ, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands) please contact: Carol Hemington or Cecilia Echols
